At one hundred and fifty years old, Malmesbury's traditional Foundry Forge has remained largely unused as a full-time working forge for the past fifty years, until now.
Situated in the north of Wiltshire - just off of the M4 - the ancient town of Malmesbury is one of Britain's oldest continually inhabited sites and with its historic abbey is a popular tourist destination. The curious are welcome to come and see the forge in action.
Alexander Coode's artistic forge work includes gates, balustrades and railings, stand-alone sculptures, fireplaces and furniture, and he is always delighted to produce smaller items for that unusual present: unusual door knockers, pokers and companion sets, flower holders and candle sticks, small wall tables and sconces and weather vanes with a difference.
"It is hard to think of a present that stands the test of time like a beautiful piece of wrought iron."
